Estonian Exhibitors on the Design Week

Design Without Borders (DWB) Exhibition

On the most essential forum of the Hungarian designers, more than 150 artworks of 16 countries’ artists can be viewed. Within a series of the introduction of contemporary jewelry designer schools, the Estonian Academy of Arts’ Faculty of Jewellery and Blacksmithing will showcase their art pieces. Besides them, an Estonian furniture designer will present his creations.

The Estonian exhibitors are: Indrek Linnamägi; Liina Lelov; Tauris Reose; Triin Kukk; Merlin Meremaa-Piho; Sigrid Kuusk; Erinn M.Cox; Erki-Eric Pillmann; Hanna-Maria Vanaküla (Students of the Estonian Academy of Arts), Estonian Academy of Arts and Toivo Raidmets, furniture designer

The project focuses on the interoperability between genres and topics, it’s name reflects on internationality, regional communication, European unity and the similarity between different art types. The organizers are aiming for presenting the possibilites of designs, to focus on creativity and innovation which is based on getting inspiration and the conversation, differences and education of different social, professional and generational groups. On the forum, the successful DWB Vlog’s movies will be aired as well.

Design Without Borders: event series by Austrian, British, Czech, Estonian, Finnish, Dutch, Hungarian, German, Polish, Italian, Austrian, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovenian, Spanish, Swiss and Slovak furniture, textile, product and jewellery designers, photographers as well as an event series augmented by contemporary dance performances and contemporary classical music concerts.

On 10 and 16 of October, from 16:20 to 17:30: Curated exhibition guide

On the event’s website, Facebook page, Instagram page and Youtube channel more than 500 artists’ websites, blog entries and videos can be reached. 


Social Design Network Exhibition and Symposium

The Social Futures – Social Design Network is an international collection, that presents projects which react on special social questions, which can be applied while the pandemic and in the future, too. On the event, the Eesti Kunstakadeemia (Estonian Academy of Arts) will represent Estonia.

Social Design Network Exhibition:

  • Date: 13th – 22nd October
  • Opening ceremony: 13th October, 19:00. (Registration required)

Social Design Network Symposium:

  • Location: MOME campus (1121 Budapest, Zugligeti út 9-25., Masters building, 1st floor)
  • Date: 14th October, 10:00-17:00
  • The event requires registration

At the event there's a lecture by Ruth Helene Melioranski (Estonian Academy of Arts), researcher conceptualising new and emerging design practises both in professional and higher educational contexts.
