Kerékpározás Budapesten Mikael Colville-Andersennel egy Christiania kerékpáron Mikael Colville-Andersen is a filmmaker, photographer
and journalist who is also Copenhagen's leading bicycle culture ambassador.
For over three years he has been documenting Copenhagen's unique bicycle
culture in photographs and films. A social documentary from an anthopological
perspective. Surprisingly, in 120 years of the bicycle in Denmark,
he's the first one to do so.
Colville-Andersen has a lecture entitled ”Marketing the Bicycle to
the Sub-Conscious Environmentalists” wherein he explains Copenhagen's
journey – then, now and in the future - towards establishing the bicycle
as a feasible, acceptable form of transport as well as the importance
of marketing 'bicycle culture' to the citizens. He explains that the
500,000 people on bicycles each day in Copenhagen are not 'cyclists',
nor are they 'environmentalists'. They merely choose to ride because
of safe, quick infrastructure. The result of 30 years of traffic and
urban planning is that the bicycle has been demystified. It is no longer
merely a piece of sports equipment for enthusiasts - it has become
a democratic tool that has liberated the people of Copenhagen from
cars and created the foundations for one of the world's most liveable
cities.
He presents his ongoing series in the Dreams on Wheels exhibition
on Danish bicycle culture, but also to the world on two blogs:
www.copenhagencyclechic.com is
a streetstyle blog dedicated to his fellows Copenhageners who ride
in style. The Times in London selected the blog as one of the Top 100
Worldwide Blogs and The Guardian called him ”The Sartorialist on Two
Wheels”. With over 1 million hits a year, the blog inspires people
around the world to cycle in their normal clothes on regular bicycles
- and to look frightfully fashionable while doing so. It's all about
fashion on the bicycle, as opposed to bicycle fashion.
www.copenhagenize.com is
a blog that focuses on all the inner workings of Copenhagen's bicycle
culture from a journalistic point of view. It explains how the City has
inspired 36% of its population – 500,000 people – to choose the bicycle
each day. By highlighting the Copenhagen Experience, Colville-Andersen
encourages and inspires other cities to 'copenhagenize' by investing
in bicycle infrastructure and moving towards developing a more sustainable
urban landscape, with the bicycle firmly place in the centre of the equation.
Through his consultancy company Copenhagenize Consulting, he advises
cities, towns and bicycle advocates about what steps to take towards
their bicycle-friendly goals.
